Terms of Service
Last updated on September 9, 2026.
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Hindsight’s website, downloads, macOS application, license activation, updates, documentation, and related services, collectively the Services. By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms.
If you use Hindsight for an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
Hindsight
Hindsight is a macOS app that helps you search your recent work history by capturing screen content, transcribing audio when enabled, and indexing that information locally on your Mac. You control whether screen capture and audio capture are enabled, which macOS permissions are granted, which apps are excluded, and how long local history is retained. You also control power-related recording behavior and whether Hindsight notifies you when recording stops on its own, in the app settings.
Hindsight recognizes locally when you join a video call and asks whether to record it, and records nothing until you answer. You can set it instead to record automatically or to never ask. When you choose to record, Hindsight saves the meeting’s screen video, its audio, and a local transcript that may be organized by microphone audio, system audio, and combined audio, and may include word-level timing. Your regular screen and audio capture pauses while a meeting records. Hindsight also recognizes on-screen text from that video through local OCR and stores it with the recording so you can search a meeting by what was shown, and it keeps one still frame from the video to picture the recording when you browse your meetings. If Calendar Sync is on in Hindsight’s settings and you grant Calendar access, Hindsight reads your calendar locally to name recordings and to know when a meeting is scheduled to end. You control whether Calendar Sync is on, whether calendar access is granted, and what happens when you join a meeting, and you can delete meeting recordings in the app, either one at a time or together with the rest of your local data.
Hindsight is designed for personal recall and productivity. You are responsible for using it lawfully, including complying with workplace policies, recording consent rules, confidentiality duties, and any laws that apply where you use the app. You are solely responsible for obtaining any consent required before recording a meeting or its participants.
Your License
Subject to these Terms, Hindsight grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app for your own personal or internal business purposes on devices you own or control. Hindsight and its licensors retain all rights not expressly granted to you.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or redistribute the Services except as permitted by law.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where the law allows it.
- Remove proprietary notices, license checks, update mechanisms, or security features.
- Use the Services to violate privacy, employment, surveillance, export control, or intellectual property laws.
- Interfere with the Services, licensing systems, downloads, update feeds, or supporting infrastructure.
Accounts, Purchases, Subscriptions, and Billing
Paid access to Hindsight is sold as a monthly or annual recurring subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase. To purchase paid access, you create an account identified by your email address and sign in on each Mac using a one-time code we email you. You are responsible for keeping access to that email account and your devices secure, and for activity that occurs through your account. Signing out revokes that Mac’s local device token for future license checks.
You can change the email address your account uses from within Hindsight. We send a confirmation code to the new address, and the change takes effect only when you enter it in the app. Once it does, that address becomes the one you sign in with and the one we use for billing correspondence, your previous address can no longer sign in, and we notify it that the change was made. You stay signed in on the Macs you were already signed in on. An account cannot be moved onto an address that already has a Hindsight account of its own.
Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis, monthly or annually depending on the plan you choose. Checkout, card details, receipts, and billing are handled by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record and is the seller for your purchase. Stripe charges you, issues your receipt or invoice, and collects and remits any sales tax, VAT, or GST that applies where you are. Your charge appears on your card or bank statement as LINK.COM followed by our descriptor, rather than as Consalik or Hindsight. Consalik AB remains responsible for Hindsight itself and for your account, license, and access. Your subscription renews automatically at the then-current price for the same period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the customer portal, reached through Manage Billing in the app. Cancellation stops future charges, and your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
A lifetime purchase is a one-time payment for access to the Hindsight app and core app updates during Hindsight’s supported commercial lifetime. It does not mean the lifetime of the purchaser, guarantee that Hindsight or its supporting services will operate forever, or include future products, separately sold services, or optional paid cloud features. A lifetime purchase does not renew. If you buy lifetime access while a Hindsight subscription is active on the same account, we set that subscription not to renew. The lifetime purchase takes effect immediately, and unused subscription time is not prorated or refunded except where required by law.
You can also delete your account at any time from within Hindsight, including from the screen shown when a free trial ends. Deleting your account immediately cancels any subscription, removes any lifetime entitlement, ends your access, and permanently removes your account and associated data as described in our Privacy Policy. This is different from canceling a subscription, which keeps access until the end of the current billing period. Account deletion cannot be undone, lifetime access cannot be restored through the deleted account, and deletion does not by itself entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid, except where required by law or our Refund Policy.
Prices are shown in US dollars and do not include tax. Any sales tax, VAT, or GST that applies where you are is calculated and added by Stripe at checkout, so the total you pay can be higher than the price shown on the website or in the app. Prices, plans, and applicable taxes are shown at checkout and may change. We will give notice of price changes as required by law, and any change applies to renewals after that notice. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy and mandatory consumer protection laws that apply to you. Hindsight may verify, refresh, or revoke paid entitlement status where needed to provide the Services, process refunds or disputes, enforce plan terms, prevent abuse, or comply with law.
Any free trial is limited to one per Mac. To enforce this, the app sends an anonymous device identifier at sign-in, as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting your account or signing up with a different email address on the same Mac does not grant an additional free trial.
Updates and Availability
Hindsight may offer automatic or manual updates. Updates can add, change, or remove functionality, including for compatibility, security, licensing, or reliability reasons. You are responsible for keeping the app updated and for maintaining backups or exports of any information you need outside Hindsight.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services. We will try to avoid unnecessary disruption, but we do not guarantee that the website, downloads, license validation, update feeds, or support channels will always be available.
Your Content and Local Data
You retain your rights to content captured, processed, indexed, or stored by Hindsight on your Mac. Hindsight does not claim ownership of your screenshots, audio, transcripts, OCR text, app names, window titles, browser URLs, search queries, or local history.
You are responsible for the content you choose to capture and keep. Do not use Hindsight where recording, capturing, indexing, storing, or searching information would violate someone’s rights, your agreements, or the law.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how Hindsight handles information. Because Hindsight can process sensitive information locally, you should review the privacy settings before using it in shared, workplace, regulated, confidential, or high-risk environments.
Third-Party Services
The Services may rely on third-party providers for purchases, license validation, crash reporting, release health, app hang reporting, performance diagnostics, sanitized diagnostic logging, website analytics, downloads, hosting, and updates. We are not responsible for third-party websites, products, policies, outages, or acts outside our control.
Hindsight may include open source or third-party software components. Those components may be governed by their own license terms. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you may have under those licenses.
Hindsight can download open-weight models to your Mac for transcription and for meeting summaries. Those models are made by third parties, are downloaded from third-party hosting, and are governed by their own license terms, which Hindsight names on each model in the Models section of settings. You are responsible for using a model within its license. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights in a model, and nothing in them limits rights you have under a model’s own license.
Hindsight can also write meeting summaries using a command line coding tool you have installed and signed in to yourself. Where you choose one, that tool sends the meeting’s transcript to its provider under your own account and agreement with them, billed to that account rather than to us, and we are not a party to it.
Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. We do not warrant that Hindsight will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, accurate, complete, or suitable for every situation.
Hindsight may miss captures, OCR text, transcripts, app context, private browser windows, exclusions, duplicates, or search results. You should not rely on Hindsight as your only recordkeeping system, compliance system, backup, legal archive, security tool, or source of truth.
Meeting summaries are written by a language model and can be wrong. A summary may miss what was decided, attribute something to the wrong person, or state something nobody said. Read the recording or its transcript before relying on a summary for anything that matters.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Consalik AB and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, licensors, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, loss of goodwill, or substitute services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Hindsight in the twelve months before the claim or 100 USD. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Termination
You may stop using Hindsight at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, misused your account or subscription, or used the Services unlawfully.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, payment obligations, and dispute provisions.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated date will show when the Terms last changed. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we may provide additional notice where practical. Continued use of the Services after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Contact
Questions about these Terms should be sent to Consalik AB using the support contact listed in the app, on the website, or on your purchase receipt.
